The Silo is conceived as a personal, revisionist 'dictionary' of contemporary art. In 2010, his blog The Silo won a Creative Capital/Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant. In 2002, the French government presented him with the award of Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters. He is currently Editor-at-large for the Brooklyn Rail and is a Professor of Critical Studies at the University of Houston Kathrine G. Her life as an artist is wonderful, and very fulfilling. This led her to paint what she’s doing now - WindowScapes and RoomScapes. Although she feels that she attained success in this area, she realizes that she sometimes enjoyed painting the people, as much as the backgrounds. When she finally decided to pursue art as a career, her first ambition was to paint portraits.

But she believes that there were experience’s she had as a nurse that have helped her become a better person, as well as a better painter. She became a nurse in her early twenties which took her down a different path for many years. And along the road there were many detours. Karen says that to become a painter, it feels like it took her a long time, down a winding road. Karen obtained her Associate Degree from DeKalb College, and also studied Drawing and Painting at the Atlanta College of Art, and Portraiture Study and Nancy Honea. A comfortable world bathed in cool breezes from the sea, and sunlight. For her, a painting is successful, if she wishes he was there. She intends that her windowscapes should provide the viewer with a sense of wellbeing and solitude. She likes to blend a glimpse of the ocean through an open window with the common objects of everyday life placed within the interior of a room. Karen Hollingsworth (Born 1955) loves to create paintings that evoke a sense of the familiar.
